Subject:                                         Ray’s award

Ray Goforth

Thank you commissioners for allowing us to honor the hard work and dedication of one of the many Citizen on Patrol members that volunteer at the Sheriff’s Office. I would like to introduce Ray Goforth and his wife Nancy.

I read this to Ray and Nancy a few minutes ago so I can direct my attention to you and the microphone here on the computer.

Ray has been a volunteer at the Sheriff’s Office since nearly the inception of the program 21 years ago.

Ray held many positions while serving us including; equipment and vehicle coordinator, abandoned vehicle coordinator, and field training officer. These leadership functions ensure the programs efficiency and productivity. After logging 20 years of service to the COP unit, Sheriff’s Office and citizens of Kitsap County, Ray has decided to retire, again.

The presidential lifetime volunteer achievement award honors those who donate 4,000 hours of service over their lifetime. Many volunteers strive to earn this award once during their volunteer career. Ray won this award 3 times over donating more than 13,000 hours of his life to all of us.

Ray’s dedication to the COP unit made it possible for the Sheriff’s Office to execute our mission of making Kitsap County a safer place to live, work and visit.

In addition I would like thank your wife Nancy. We know volunteering is a sacrifice in your retirement years for both of you. Here is a small token of my thanks.

Ray on behalf of the county commissioners I would like to present you this certificate.

Thank you both. Would you like to say anything to the commissioners? After that Sheriff Simpson I believe you had some words for Ray.
